I'm sure this has been all over the comm, but I've managed to miss it, so I'm posting for anyone else who doesn't know.

So: John Simm - What's next?

"The Devil's Whore (Autumn C4), set in Cromwell's time, in which I play a soldier of fortune. I've been told not to cut any hair whatsoever, which is why I look like Catweazle"

funny, in all the reaction to That pic, I don't recall the word 'Catweazle' coming up once!

Show you'd love to have done:

"Never Mind the Buzzcocks, but they've never asked me. I'm great with music, so I'd be good on that."

ASK HIM!! DO IT NOW!!

Philip Glenister - What's next?

"The Last Van Helsing (autumn ITV1). Vampires is a new genre for me. I play Van Helsing's protector and mentor. I've a rather useless pulse gun that doesn't seem to kill anything. Not as good as a .44 Magnum!"

Show you'd love to have done:

"Gavin and Stacey was fabulous. Really good comedy is hard to find."

And in an aside, when James Nesbitt was asked who he wanted to meet at the baftas, his response? "I know it's going to be a good night if John Simm's in the room." *MELT* This has taken my warped brain in an unhealthy but very happy direction! :D

See that? That's my brain overtaking you on the inside track... Hmmmm...

Catweazle! I don't know quite why that thought makes me so happy at 6:50am, but it does...
I, being poor, have only my dreams.

Hmm indeed. You got any meetings today? *eg*

As an RPS prompt, it certainly takes some beating! Fortunate, really, that I have no understanding whatsoever of the concept of RPS...*polishes halo*

You know, it is clocking in at close to 2 years that I've been in love with these boys and I had fully expected my lust to have dissipated just a little bit, but no, they still make me squee like a squeeing thing.

I had missed this so thank you for posting it.

bistokids at 2008-04-29 12:45 (UTC) (Link)
That's reassuring. If you haven't seen it, I'm guessing it's not been out there, as you're usually extremely well clued in on such things.

*glee at knowing JS stuff before Ducky!*

*puts hand up* I missed it too, so thank you for pointing it out :)

No, I don't believe I did, either. Can't think why *g*

Philip Glenister - What's next?
Obviously he can't talk about the Life on Mars spinoff that has Sam and Gene living together in an apartment block that also houses Ray and Chris, with Unknown Police Guy and Annie sharing the penthouse flat and Phyllis sharing the basement with Oswald. Sort of like a British Friends, only with more secks and fighting.

Thing his, now he's said it, and looking at your icon, I can sort of see it! XD

Is there a list for trying out his "Pulse Gun"? (Never heard it called that before). I reckon it would kill me ded good enough. And then we could do it all over again to make sure.

The picture RT have actually printed is straight in the extreme, so I'm very glad we got to see The Other One. (Now all we need is a high-quality version...)

straight in the extreme

Well, as straight as these two get, anyway! XD You can still get the sense of a sort of crackle in the air. That may be my wishful thinking, obviously.

Oh, if you need any assistance with your pulse gun investigations, I'll be more than happy to lend a hand!
don't mess with the Pie Ho, oh no!

I also missed this. But that doesn't surprise me terribly much, as I miss a lot of things. XDXD

If he was on Nevermind the Buzzcocks, I think I would die. XD

Also, the pulse gun thing makes me think pulse rifle, which then makes me think Aliens, which then leads to Phil and Lance Henriksen in a film together, which then makes me go "Oooh." XD

*dies right along with you*

Maybe, now it's been in the RT, the producers of Buzzcocks will think about it. Mind you, if they treat him as shockingly as Jimmy Nesbitt got treated, there'll be some serious arse-kicking going on!

I missed this too somehow, so thank you so much for posting it!

Can't say I saw mention of it either... *swoons at mere thought of That Photo*

And who do we have to call at Buzzcocks? Massive oversight on their part!

Pulse gun? I like the sound of that... *g*

No problem! :D

And who do we have to call at Buzzcocks? Massive oversight on their part!
It is really. I'd guess it never occurred to them that he might be interested, given his lack of enjoyment of the limelight. Well, now they know. *taps foot*

Oh, thanks for this! I don't think it had been published in the comm yet, as I check it pretty regularly.

When is John filming 'The Devil's Whore'? If he's not started yet, I guess we'll see him with an even longer beard in the next few months... (not that I'm complaining, anyway!)

Can't wait to see Phil as a Vampire Slayer, either! ;)

When is John filming 'The Devil's Whore'?

imdb has it listed as 'in production', but that's a pretty wide parameter. Don't know other than this, sorry.

(If it helps, I do know that he's playing a charcter called Edward Sexby! Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I bother making stuff up at all, when RL does this kind of thing! XD )

I WANNA SEE SIMM ON NMTB, OMG.

bistokids at 2008-04-29 16:54 (UTC) (Link)
Maybe if we petition the BBC hard enough? I think he'd be fab on it. And I was chuffed to bits that he'd actually want to do it, too.
violateviolet at 2008-04-29 14:42 (UTC) (Link)
He MUST go on Nevermind The Buzzcocks! @_@

I was actually quite surprised he wasn't invited on last year with the boom in his popularity and his obvious muso tendancies.

I'd love Simon to play some Magic Alex and rip the piss (I can't help it - I think they're utter crap).
I, being poor, have only my dreams.
bistokids at 2008-04-29 16:56 (UTC) (Link)
I've yet to have the pleasure of hearing Magic Alex, so I'm prepared to take your word on that! Having said that, since I genuinely could watch John read the phone book and be enthralled, I'm sure I'd find some redeeming features!

Awww. I disagree. They have three really good songs!

:D

But, alas, not high on my 'to watch' list is 'Simm kicking the shit out of Simon Amstell', if only because his reputation's bad enough.

Ooh - I hadn't seen this interview before, thank you so very much for posting!

James Nesbitt and John Simm... Now that is an interesting mental image, because I'm seeing Nesbitt as Jekyll and Simm as The Master and it's a very, very interesting mental scenario...

I, being poor, have only my dreams.
bistokids at 2008-04-29 18:01 (UTC) (Link)
Mmmm, I like that scenario muchly. I'd do it, only I really have no clue how to write Jekyll! still got the pictures in my head to keep me warm, though!

Thanks for this - I hadn't seen it either.

Although I am also now worryingly distracted by the thought of Phil's 'pulse gun'. That standoff scene at the end of 2.02 could've all ended up so much more stickily differently ;)

OMG. When I was watching heaps of NMTB, I kept thinking "John would fucking rock this, but he'd probably tear Simon limb from limb".

HEE. I am SO CHUFFED he'd actually want to do it. And now? BOOKING AGENT - DO YOUR BEST.
